The Pikinini Sports Coaching Program’s assessment week, from August 27 to August 29, highlighted the practical application of coaching skills by our trainee coaches. The week began at Kiunga Town Primary School on August 27, where trainee coach Babra Iowa, assisted by Robin Zeipi, led a practical session with their students. On August 28, assessments continued at Monfort Primary School, with trainee coach Oggi Yarugop conducting a rugby training session. The program concluded on August 29 with visits to both Gretutu Primary School, where Alice Ipah and her team ran a training session, and Hongas Primary School, where trainee coaches Robert Kwe and Aileen Simon, supported by Kiso Tu’u and Thomas Andrew, conducted their own session.
The assessments were carried out by our experienced coaches, Nuga and Ian, who observed, supported, and provided feedback throughout the week. Their guidance ensured the effective application of coaching session plans and periodization techniques, and the dedication and collaboration of the trainee coaches were evident. This successful assessment week demonstrated the positive impact of the Pikinini Sports Coaching Program on both the coaches and their communities.
