Peta Limited, in partnership with OKTEDI Development Foundation and the CMCA Women Association, proudly launched the Pikinini Sports Coaching Program in Kiunga from August 19 to August 23. This week-long program focused on empowering community leaders, primary school teachers, and local youths with essential coaching skills, including the creation of effective training session plans and the principles of periodization. Participants engaged in hands-on training, learning how to coach children with an emphasis on safety, effective communication, and structured planning to support long-term athlete development.
The program concluded with a special certificate ceremony, celebrating the achievements of the newly trained coaches who are now prepared to implement their new skills within their communities. The event, attended by representatives from OKTEDI Development Foundation, CMCA community leaders, and local schools, marked a significant milestone in fostering a sustainable coaching culture. The Pikinini Sports Coaching Program not only equipped participants with practical coaching knowledge but also strengthened community ties, paving the way for a brighter future in youth sports in Kiunga.
